KH II: Saix's Claymore

So this is probably the lightest "large" weapon I've made to date. The base is made of insulation foam and fiberglass, but instead of using heavy, heavy Bondo as a smoother over the fiberglass, I used paper mache instead. It worked out pretty well, actually, and keeps the thing light.

The top circle and yellow crosses are held on with screws and can be unscrewed for travel. The hilt also screws on and off. More and more I find that I enjoy making weapons that can be taken apart and put back together - it's getting to be kind of an obsession XD

The big pointy end of the hilt was turned on the lathe out of a block of 3 in. poplar.

Sealed with Mod Podge, painted with acrylic paints, and then sealed again with DecoArt polyurethane varnish.

I fully admit to not even having made it all the way through KH1 yet and not quite knowing who Saix is - but one of these days I will finish the game and move on to KH2! right after I finish Final Fantasy X ^O^/
