This was my wedding cake.

Yes, it really was my wedding cake.



I didn't make the actual cake - the blue and white layered cake was bought from a cake store. But I did everything else with the help of ~acesquad, my awesome maid of honor. The Macross and Max and Milia Valkyries are plastic figurines. The buildings are wafer crackers, the roads and trees are icing, and the lights on the roads are orange sprinkles.

The "wire" running down from the two halves of the Macross cannon is made from dental tape.

I think it took us about 2 hours to finish the cake. We had to store it since we'd done it the day before the wedding, and it took up the entire refrigerator of one of our (very patient) groomsmen.

There is a slight dent in the white layer of the cake where Milia' Valkyrie had an unfortunate accident and fell while they were wheeling the cake out to the reception.

We cut the cake to the background music of the original opening theme to the very first Macross (MA-KU-ROSS!). SO MANY people took pictures of my wedding cake. It was totally worth it for the pain of transporting the really heavy cake 3 times (from the cake store to our house, from our house to the groomsman's house, from the groomsman's house to the reception hall).
